Through a collaborative partnership, School of Nursing graduate-level students are working with administrators at WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital to identify clinical opportunities for improvement, implement evidence-based solutions and enhance patient outcomes.

Students recently met for their first clinical lab as part of the Transition to Professional Nursing course specifically designed to help licensed practical nurses transition to professional nursing by focusing on assessment, advanced skills and clinical judgment.
Jaclyn Montag, a doctoral student in dental surgery, was selected as one of only five students to serve on the American Student Dental Association Council on Advocacy. The ASDA is a national student-run organization that protects and advances the rights, interests and welfare of dental students.
Faculty and doctoral students shared their work by participating in panels and poster presentations during the conference. This year’s theme — “Honoring our Past and Moving Forward: Decolonizing Nursing Knowledge” — focused on embracing history while forging a path toward a progressive and inclusive future in nursing.
Following a national search, Dr. Melina Flanagan will serve as chair of the School of Medicine Department of Pathology, Anatomy and Laboratory Medicine.
Dr. Syed Ahmad said his month in the American College of Physicians Health Policy Internship program taught him how crucial it is for doctors and policymakers to have open discussions about how policies could affect patients’ lives and how physicians deliver care.
